The Story of a Photographer....
Now that you know a little about me, I want to share more about who I am behind the lens and my philosophy on my photography.
I remember my dad buying his first dslr. I was probably 9 or 10, and I was so impressed. After that day I used it when I could, and as I grew up and got a smart phone I would photograph everything. I have always loved capturing candids and seeing life through the eye of a lens....using creativity to keep a moment and memory forever.
My love for photography only grew as I became a mom. Once I had children I just started capturing all the moments I could. My parents always said time goes fast, but I don't think I could quite understand it fully until being a mama. Every minute goes by so quickly and you wish there was just a way to bottle up each milestone, each everyday moment, and honestly, even the long nights, and relive them over and over again. Sadly we can't bottle them up to relive, but we can keep them in a picture, and that's incredible to me. It has become a precious thing to me to freeze these memories with my children and husband, and now I want to share that with other people.
I want to be the person to freeze time for you. I want to help capture moments that you'll look back on and remember how you felt in that season, that moment. How your children sounded when they laughed. How your husband looked at you in awe after you just had a baby or how it felt to be in his arms on your anniversary. Whatever the occasion, whether it be a new baby, yearly family photos, or celebrating your love as a couple, I'll be so honored to be there with you in that moment.
I love sunlight and real, raw moments. I don't believe in trying to pretend life is perfect; it's so much more beautiful with all the uneven cracks in the picture that Jesus fills in with His grace and love. I want to capture all of that for you. We all want the posed picture where everyone is dressed up and smiling at the camera, so I'll be sure to capture that for you, haha! But I mostly want to capture the moments when life is just happening as it always does; real, imperfect, often chaotic, and completely beautiful.
So if you book a session with me, please don't stress. Don't stress about the babies being on their best behavior or standing perfectly still. I have a 3 year old, 2 year old, and a newborn, so I totally understand the crazy! I want to be your cheerleader and bestie through all of that. I got you! Just relax and be yourselves, the rest will all work out.
"Photography has been my way of bearing witness to the joy I find in seeing the extraordinary in ordinary."
What is your approach to shooting?
I call myself a moderate- somewhere in between lifestyle and posed, haha!
I will often have a pose in mind and direct you that way, but I love movement and tell my clients that its absolutely ok to move around. let the kids play and join them! I like to start with a pose and then catch the candid moments in between.
Do you give out raw files?
No. When you hire me, I consider that to be for my full scope of work, creativity, and art, which includes fully edited images only.
What time of day will we shoot?
99 percent of the time we will be shooting right before sunset, when the light is beautiful and golden. Occasionally I will do a sunrise session, and that would be right after sunrise.
In home sessions and fresh 48s are best done in the early afternoon to be able to get the most natural light in your home.
What is the booking process?
Just send me a message telling me a little about yourself and your vision for the photoshoot. After that we will decide on a date and time, and then I will send over and invoice and contract. Once those are finished, we will work on wardrobe, location, and session prep!
Where are you located and do you travel?
I am located just outside of Fort Collins. There are travel fees for anything outside of 30 miles of Fort Collins to help compensate for my time and gas, but I love traveling so please reach out!
